I am an artist and natural science illustrator living in Golden Bay, New Zealand. My husband, daughter and I moved to New Zealand from the Big Island of Hawaii in 2005. In Hawaii I studied my subjects often while scuba diving and snorkeling. Enchanting encounters with wild dolphins, manta rays and humpback whales provided great inspiration for me, as well as the exquisiteness of a small fish or invertebrate. Currently, I am working on a new body of work in New Zealand. These are watercolor studies and compositions of endangered and native New Zealand birds, as well as landscapes of my beautiful new home. My favorite mediums are watercolor and oil on canvas. I enjoy painting very detailed watercolors depicting animals in their natural habitats. My oil paintings are created by slowly building up multiple layers of colors and glazes. My wish is that my artwork can help contribute towards an increased appreciation of, and desire to conserve and protect natural environments and all forms of wildlife.
